Brazilian Programs

About the program

On the following pages you will find the diversity and plurality of views that make up the Brazilian film programs of the 31st São Paulo International Short Film Festival - Curta Kinoforum.

Altogether, we present 56 films – subdivided into three different showcases. The tour of several states in Brazil begins with the Competitive Showcase, which selected 12 films from the submissions, distributed in three programs. The films compete for the Sao Paulo ISFF award, which this year has a jury formed by filmmaker and journalist Kleber Mendonça Filho, journalist and documentary filmmaker Flavia Guerra and journalist and researcher Mariana Queen Nwabasili.

Then, the great panorama of Brazilian production is presented in the seven programs of Brazilian Showcase, which bring together the 29 selected films in a thematic way. The urgency of the moment, dreams and desires, identity issues, love and sex, the grandeur of time are some of the guiding threads of these programs.

To close this section, the Audiovisual Production Workshops bring a program of films selected from the submissions, plus a program produced by the É Nóis na Fita project, with films "made at home" during the pandemic, and the 2019 production of the Kinoforum Workshops, which for more than 20 years has brought together young people around audiovisual language and production, guaranteeing access and expanding visions.

Enjoy the trip through so many Brazils!
